By using Cleat & Cone you accept the terms below. They are written to be readable rather than exhaustive.

What this site is

Cleat & Cone is an independent guide to youth soccer gear, published by Magoo Media Group. It provides information and opinion to help parents and coaches choose equipment.

What this site is not

• Not a retailer. We do not sell anything, hold stock, take payment, or fulfill orders. Every purchase you make happens on a third-party retailer’s site under their terms.
• Not a testing laboratory. We have not worn, kicked or measured the products we write about. Our method, and its limits, are set out on how we pick.
• Not a medical or professional adviser. Nothing here is medical, physiotherapeutic or coaching advice. Where a page touches health — the Sever’s disease page in particular — it reports cited clinical sources and recommends seeing a doctor. It is not a substitute for one.
• Not affiliated with any league or governing body. Where we cite standards from organizations such as AYSO, US Youth Soccer or the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, we are reporting their published material. We do not speak for them and they have no involvement with this site.
• Not affiliated with the manufacturers we write about. Brand and product names are used for identification only and remain the property of their owners.

Check your own league’s rules

Youth soccer rules vary between leagues, clubs and regions, and they change. We describe the common standards and cite our sources, but your league’s own rules are authoritative and you should check them — particularly on ball sizes at age boundaries, footwear requirements, and whether shin guards are mandatory.

Safety

Some pages, notably those about anchoring backyard soccer goals, relay published safety guidance from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. We report that guidance accurately and link to the source, and following it is your responsibility. Always read and follow the manufacturer’s own instructions for any equipment you buy — they take precedence over anything here.

No warranty

The site is provided as is. We take care to be accurate and we correct errors when we learn of them, but we make no warranty that everything here is complete, current or error-free. Product availability, specifications and prices change constantly and are outside our control.

To the extent permitted by law, neither Magoo Media Group nor the author is liable for any loss arising from your use of this site or from a purchase you make through it. Your remedy for a faulty or unsuitable product lies with the retailer and the manufacturer.

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and we do not change the date without changing something.
