The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell anything directly. The only personal information we ever receive is what you type into the contact form. Analytics and the retailers we link to collect their own data, described below.

What we collect directly

The contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type. That is emailed to us so we can reply. We use it only to reply to you, we do not add you to any mailing list, and we do not share it with anyone.

The form also records the moment the page loaded and checks a hidden field that real visitors never fill in. Both are anti-spam measures, not tracking — they tell us whether a submission was made by a person or a script, and nothing about who you are.

Your IP address is used to rate-limit submissions, so one sender cannot flood the form. It is held in memory on the server only and is not stored.

Nothing else

There are no accounts, no logins, no saved preferences, and no newsletter. There is nothing to delete because there is nothing we keep.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. It records things like which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world a visit came from, and which links get clicked — including when someone clicks through to a retailer, which is how we know a recommendation was helpful.

We see that as aggregate numbers. We cannot identify you from it, and we do not try to. Google’s own handling of that data is governed by its policies rather than ours; you can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with Google’s browser add-on.

Cookies

The site itself does not set cookies to track you. Google Analytics sets its own, and the retailers you click through to set theirs — including the affiliate cookie that tells Amazon a purchase came from here. Your browser can block or clear all of them, and the site works fine without them.

Affiliate links

We earn a commission when you buy through our links. When you click one, the retailer records that the click came from us so the commission can be attributed, using their own cookie and their own privacy policy.

We never see who you are or what you bought — only aggregate commission totals. The full funding explanation is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Product links route through our own /go/ redirect first, which records nothing about you. It exists so that a retailer relationship can be changed in one place rather than across every page.

Children

This site is written for parents and coaches, not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, email contact@cleatandcone.com and we will delete it.

Your choices

• Do not use the contact form and we receive nothing about you at all.
• Block cookies and analytics in your browser, or use Google’s opt-out add-on. The site works normally either way.
• Ask us to delete a contact-form message. Email us and we will remove it from our inbox.

Changes

If this page changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. We do not update the date without changing something.
